About the Program

Welcome to the PGO Virtual Mentoring Program

The PGO Virtual Mentoring Program connects experienced professional geoscientists with students, geoscientists-in-training (GITs), and early- to mid-career professionals seeking guidance and support. Whether you’re here to mentor, be mentored, or both, this platform enables flexible, self-directed, and impactful engagement - wherever you are.

This is more than a platform. It’s a commitment to fostering learning, leadership, and public trust in a self-regulating profession.

Why Mentoring Matters

As a self-regulating profession, our responsibility to protect the public depends on more than policy - it depends on people. Mentorship fosters competence, accountability, and trust across a diversity of backgrounds and career paths. It builds ethical awareness, strengthens professional standards, and supports individuals as they navigate complex decisions and grow into their roles.

Mentorship is not only personally meaningful - it helps sustain a profession that serves the public interest with integrity and accountability.
