Become a Mentee

Thank you for you interest in being a Mentee in the PGO Mentorship Program. This application will take approximately 15 to 30 minutes to complete.

The PGO mentorship program is focussed on engaging early to mid-career professionals and helping them upskill and accellerate their careers. Students can also be included in the program, and mentors can choose the experience level of mentee they wish to work with. PGO believes a mentoring relationship can be highly effective in professional development, and in engaging and retaining talent in the geoscience profession. Hours spent volunteering as a mentee can be recorded for annual CPD reporting (max of 12 hours per year).

The information you provide in this application may be shared with your match when you are introduced. We will attempt to match all applicants, however, a match cannot be guaranteed.

PGO does not endorse or screen applicants, other than ensuring that only PGO members in good standing have access to the mentoring platform. Mentors and mentees will be responsible once a match is identified to confirm that the match is compatible.

The PGO mentoring program is facilitated by PGO but the mentoring relationship is driven by Mentors and Mentees. Mentors are volunteering their time to help support Mentees in achieving their goals. Mentees should be clear about what they want to gain from the mentoring relationship, and should take the lead in communicating with their mentor and in scheduling meetings.
